A compact camp with a simple routine
Camping Swags
A swag brings a sleeping enclosure close to the ground and can suit trips where quick setup matters more than standing room. Use the advice below to plan your next setup, or explore the broader tents and sleeping range for available alternatives.

Decide whether the format suits your trip
A low sleeping enclosure is a different experience from a tent you can sit or stand inside. Think about changing clothes, keeping bags out of the weather and moving around without stepping onto bedding. For a longer stay, a separate living area may be just as important as the sleep space.
Compare the packed roll with your vehicle’s storage space. A simple setup can still be bulky, particularly if bedding remains rolled inside it.
Allow room for the person and the mattress
Use the internal sleeping dimensions rather than the outside outline. Shoulder room, foot space and the height over your face affect how enclosed the bed feels. For a double setup, think about two people getting in and out and whether either person will disturb the other.
A supplied mattress, when one is included, still needs to suit your comfort and insulation needs. Adding a thicker replacement may reduce headroom or change how the swag packs away.
Keep moisture and bedding apart
Plan where wet boots and clothing will go before settling in. Give the shelter time to air after use, and dry any canvas, floor and bedding according to their care instructions before long-term storage. A damp roll is difficult to deal with once it is packed under the rest of the camping gear.
For an alternative setup, compare tents and mattresses separately: a similar-looking shelter may not include a bed.
