High Bay Lighting: Output and Installation Checks

Round high-bay lights with mounting and housing details

Choose a high-bay light using the required illumination at the working surface, ceiling height, room layout and installation conditions. Wattage describes electrical input; it does not by itself establish a suitable mounting height or an evenly lit workspace.

Current Leier 200W specifications

The linked Leier fitting is specified at 200W with light output of at least 20,000 lumens. Its listing gives AC85–265V, 50/60Hz input, a colour-rendering value above 70, a 150 cm power cord and a 115 cm hanging chain. The housing is listed as aluminium and acrylic, measuring 35 cm in diameter and 15 cm high.

The current listing does not establish the previously quoted 26,000–30,000-lumen output, IP65 rating or 50,000-hour life. Do not infer waterproofing, outdoor suitability or service life from the UFO shape or the word industrial.

Plan the light distribution

Compare documented beam and photometric information at the intended mounting height. Include obstructions, shelving, glare and the work being done below. A single high-output fitting can still leave shadows or uneven light; the number, placement and characteristics of fittings need to suit the space.

Confirm the mounting and electrical work

Check that the supporting structure, hanging arrangement and electrical supply meet the exact fitting's instructions. A supplied chain does not establish the suitability of an arbitrary roof member. Use a licensed electrician for electrical installation work and obtain a lighting design where the task requires it.

Compare operating costs fairly

Compare actual input power, operating hours and the number of fittings needed for equivalent illumination. Savings depend on what the new system replaces and how it is used; 200W is not a universally ideal power level. Include installation, cleaning access and replacement requirements in the comparison.
