Replacing a pump requires the application and operating conditions, not just the old pump's wattage. Record the liquid, required flow, head and connections before comparing replacements.
Build a replacement record
Photograph the identification plate and note the original model. Describe the system, including vertical lift, pipe route and any control arrangement. Confirm whether the pump handles clean water, specified dirty water or another permitted liquid.
| Detail | What to match |
|---|---|
| Performance | Required flow at the actual operating head |
| Connections | Size, thread and approved pipe arrangement |
| Materials | Compatibility with the liquid and temperature |
| Controls and supply | Intended switching, power and installation requirements |
Compare the operating point
Maximum flow and maximum head should not be assumed to occur together. Use the performance curve and appropriate technical advice. A physically similar pump can be unsuitable for the original duty or installation. Plumbing, electrical and specialist applications may require qualified installation. Do not adapt an unsuitable connection or use a general pump for drinking water or chemicals without explicit support. Choose from a complete replacement specification and retain it for future servicing.
