Burner layout for the pans you actually use

Gas Cooktops

A gas cooktop needs to fit your bench opening, gas supply and everyday pan arrangement. Four or five burners only become useful when large pots can sit together without crowding their neighbours. Compare the burner positions and access to controls as closely as the overall width.

Place your largest pans on the plan

Imagine a wide frying pan, stockpot and small saucepan in use together. A central wok burner changes how much room remains at the sides. The Devanti 90cm model has five burners, including a dedicated wok burner; the 60cm model has four. More burners do not automatically mean more usable space for oversized cookware.

Separate the nominal width from the opening

The 90cm Devanti model specifies an 83 × 48cm cut-out and an 86 × 52.5cm overall footprint. Those are different measurements. Have the installer verify the full installation drawing, surrounding clearances and service access before cabinetry is cut or an existing appliance is removed.

Confirm the supplied gas configuration

The Devanti models are factory set for natural gas and describe an included LPG conversion kit. A kit in the box does not mean the appliance arrives converted. Arrange the correct installation and conversion with an appropriately licensed gasfitter, then keep the model’s operating and cleaning instructions with the kitchen records.

Gas Cooktops FAQs

Will a new 60cm gas cooktop fit my existing opening?

Not necessarily. The nominal width describes a product class, while the bench cut-out, underside and surrounding clearances are separate dimensions. Compare both installation drawings and have the gasfitter confirm the fit before ordering or changing cabinetry. A replacement can have the same advertised width and still need a different opening.

Is a five-burner gas cooktop always better for large pans?

Only if the pans you use together fit around the burners. A wide wok or stockpot can occupy space above neighbouring burners, particularly when the large burner sits centrally. Sketch your usual pan diameters and handles over the proposed layout; usable combinations matter more than the burner count.

Does an LPG conversion kit mean the cooktop is ready for bottled gas?

No. A supplied kit and a completed conversion are different things. The Devanti examples here are described as factory set for natural gas. Tell an appropriately licensed gasfitter which gas supply you have and arrange the model-specific installation and conversion; do not attempt to change the gas setup yourself.
