LED strip components must work as a compatible system. The strip, power supply, connectors and controller need matching electrical and control specifications; a connector that physically fits is not enough.
Write down the system before ordering
Check the strip voltage, stated power per length, maximum permitted run and the manufacturer's compatible supply and controller. Distinguish single-colour, adjustable-white and colour-changing systems: they may use different connections and controls.
| Component | Compatibility detail |
|---|---|
| Strip | Voltage, width, connection type and permitted cut points |
| Power supply | Approved matching system and capacity for the planned installation |
| Controller | Supported strip type, connection and control method |
| Mounting | Suitable surface, heat management and any required channel |
Measure the route and corners
Measure the full path, including turns and gaps. Check whether corners need approved connectors and whether cut sections can be reconnected. Do not cut at an arbitrary point or extend a strip beyond the system's instructions. Confirm suitability for moisture or outdoor exposure for the complete assembly, including connectors and supply. A protected strip does not make an exposed connection weatherproof. Use manufacturer-approved plug-in arrangements as instructed; fixed mains wiring and uncertain electrical compatibility need a qualified professional. Plan access to the controller and supply so maintenance does not require dismantling the room.
