Compare the vase and the full arrangement

For an oval ceramic vase set, check the quantity supplied and measure each vase separately from any included flower arrangement. An advertised overall height may include the stems rather than describe the ceramic vessel. Compare the base, opening and widest point with the surface where it will stand.

Check the intended flower use

A decorative ceramic vase is not automatically watertight. Confirm suitability for fresh flowers and any liner requirements before adding water. If artificial flowers are included, check whether they are removable or fixed before planning a different arrangement.

Choose a stable display

Place the vase on a suitable level surface and allow space from table edges, door swings and passing bags. For a dining table, test sightlines across the complete arrangement. Ceramic should be handled with care; a thick-looking body does not make it unbreakable.

Plan care and contents

Follow the cleaning guidance for the glaze and any artificial stems. Check the current package contents if buying a coordinated set or gift, including whether any wrapping is supplied. Choose the shape, colour and full arrangement height to suit the room and the surface where it will be displayed.
