A lunch box needs to fit the meal and the bag carrying it. Compare internal compartment dimensions and the closure rather than relying only on total capacity.
Check what stays separate
Dividers can organise food without making each compartment leakproof. Look for an explicit description of seals and permitted contents. If carrying sauces or liquids, confirm the exact container's intended use and how it must be closed and transported.
| Detail | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Main compartment | Space for the foods and containers you pack regularly |
| Smaller sections | Whether they are removable or fixed |
| Outer dimensions | Fit inside the lunch bag with any cooling packs |
| Contents | Whether cutlery, cups or small pots are included |
Make cleaning manageable
Check whether seals can be removed and reinstalled as directed, and whether the lid and base have different dishwasher or microwave restrictions. A microwave-safe base does not automatically make the lid suitable too. For children, compare the latch with what the child can operate comfortably, while following any age guidance. Plan temperature control for perishable food separately; a sealed lunch box is not a refrigeration system. A simple box that fits the bag and can be cleaned thoroughly is often more useful than extra compartments that do not match the meal.
